jewellery technique training

The Journey

The Goldsmiths' School aims at providing a comprehensive training program suitable for both the beginnner and the more advanced student, in the techniques of Gold / Silversmithing and Jewellery making.

Jewellery Making Programs

The Goldsmiths’ School aims at providing a comprehensive training program suitable for both the beginner and the more advanced student, in the techniques of Gold / Silversmithing and Jewellery making.

The majority of our gold/ silversmithing and jewellery making courses are conducted on a part time basis, with nine scheduled classes operating weekly. Each class runs for 3 hours. The student would choose a suitable class to attend (e.g. a Tuesday evening class, or a Wednesday morning class), and forward the enrolment form to us selecting their class of choice.

The booking is then made for 5 x 3 hour lessons, coming once per week If the student wishes to continue with the study program, they would book a further block of five lessons coming once per week, and so on.

The Vocational Course student would select and attend two classes per week, plus some weekend workshops. This year long course commences in February of each year.

The ACE Course student would select and attend two classes per week, plus some weekend workshops. The year long course commences in July and runs to June.

We run jewellery making courses for beginners and for trained Jewellers we run setting courses and specific technique training courses to enhance their knowledge.

The set up

The school is well equipped for all techniques and all tools are supplied. The teachers are trained Goldsmiths and teaching is carried out in a professional manner with each students’ individual needs and career directions considered in the program. Each class has 12 students, and two teachers. Each student occupies a fully equipped workbench. In a typical class students will be at different levels and working on different projects. (with master classes and specialized workshops the exception)

This we find creates an interesting and stimulating environment for the student. The students progress is self paced and the techniques are taught in carefully structured building modules ranging from simple tasks and graduating to more advanced techniques.

For bookings, download the enrolment form below and mail it to the Goldsmiths School with the deposit required, or call (07) 3366 4632 for more details.
